Meet Dr Nicola Burton: Specialist Clinical Psychologist & Child Psychologist

Dr Nicola Burton is a Specialist Clinical Psychologist who has worked with children and adolescents for over 20 years. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2008 and worked in the NHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) for 8 years before moving into private practice.

Dr Burton has worked in various settings and has supported children and adolescents with a range of mental health difficulties; her specialisms include childhood trauma, attachment and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She is trained in a range of therapeutic models, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and attachment-focused therapy. Dr Burton works in a flexible, tailored way, drawing upon a range of psychological models and therapeutic approaches to support emotional regulation, reduce distress, build resilience and strengthen family relationships and connections.

Dr Burton offers comprehensive psychological assessments, which can include assessments of cognition and learning and screening for neurodevelopmental disorders. She also offers one-to-one therapy to children and adolescents, parenting sessions, and family work.
